Creativity Grant Mission

The mission of the unSCruz Creativity Grant Program is to support artistic projects created for and/or presented at unSCruz. Creativity Grants are designed to help artists realize their unique creative vision and to promote projects that are participatory and/or interactive in nature.

Creativity Grant Application Guidelines

  • Proposed projects must align with our Mission Statement
  • Creativity Grant Application and the appropriate Placement Application: Stand Alone Art Installation, MV/Art Support Camp, or Theme Camp must be submitted by November 15th, 2023.
    • Applicants will be notified with decisions by December 5th, 2023.
    • Grant Disbursements will be issued beginning January 15th, 2024.
  • A detailed, line item budget must be included in your application submission with links or it will not be considered for a grant.

      • Materials and supplies
      • Equipment rental
      • Limited contract work
      • Transportation costs
      • Other costs that are directly related to your project

  • Ineligible Expenses
    • Artist fees
    • Living expenses
    • Child care
    • Personal food or beverages
    • Any personal overhead expenses
  • Grantee Requirements (If your application is approved)
    • You MUST submit a Placement Application by November 15th, 2023 prior to grant fund issuance.
    • You must maintain an open line of communication with unSCruz planning teams, via phone, text, email, social media, or other reliable method(s). Failing to maintain communication with your grant liaison can result in being asked to return grant funds.
    • We’ll be asking for progress reports. Depending on where you are and how you work, this could be in the form of videos, phone calls, emails with photos, studio visits, zoom calls, etc.
  • You must submit a safety plan before being allowed to install/perform your project at unSCruz. This should include a flame effects plan if your project includes fire, weather/wind/climber stability for structures, lighting provisions for nighttime, and/or whatever precautions apply to your project’s physical presence in the community space.
  • Artists/projects must arrive at the event site on time (as agreed) and be completely set up by 9 am on Thursday, May 2nd. If you experience delays in production or delivery, please let us know as soon as possible. If you have not claimed your space by 7 am on Thursday, May 2nd, your Placement will be forfeited and you are legally obligated to return the Grant funds awarded to you.
  • We will reserve 10% of the total grant amount until post-event, to be paid once you pass our Leave No Trace inspection.
  • Each Grant Recipient will receive 1 general admission gift ticket.
  • Each Art Grant Recipient will also receive access to purchase DGS tickets (for General Admission entry and RV/Vehicle Passes per the Placement Application) for your build crew.
